Anton Kubikov

Moscow's leading techno figure from the late '90s to the early '00s, Anton Kubikov established himself initially as a radio DJ, then embarked on a remarkable production stint, most notably recording as half of ScSi-9. Born in 1975 in Moscow, Kubikov (aka DJ Kubikov) began his ascent in 1994, when he spun at one of the Russian capital city's first techno clubs, Hermitage. Soon he began spinning at the other clubs springing up annually in Moscow: Treasure Island, Moby Dick, Ptyuch, Utopia, X-Dance, and more. By 1995, a year later, his reputation provided him the opportunity to host his own radio show on Russia's first dance station, Station, and in 1997 he also began producing his own tracks. He released his music under a variety of monikers (among them ScSi-9, Multipliar, Hero City Movers, Snowboarder, and Snooker Boy) on a variety of labels (Force Tracks, Trapez, Salo, Traum, and Freizeitglauben), often doing so in conjunction with producer Maxim Milyutenko. When not busy in the studio, Kubikov performed often in Russia and Germany, where he is very well-known.
