Sun Airway
Philadelphia, PA's dreamy electronic pop act Sun Airway was the project of Jon Barthmus, formerly of the A-Sides. Early on, the group also included Barthmus' A-Sides bandmate, drummer Patrick Marsceill. The band's sound melds smooth, glistening electronics, ethereal sonic textures, and indie pop/rock dynamics and melodies. Sun Airway's first EP, Oh, Naoko, was issued as a giveaway in mid-2010, and the act subsequently did remixes for Delorean, Here We Go Magic, the Hundred in the Hands, and Caribou. The debut full-length, Nocturne of Exploded Crystal Chandelier, was released by Dead Oceans in the fall of the same year. Sun Airway returned in 2011 with the Wild Palms single, which signaled a more streamlined but also more massive sound. Inspired by the lavishness of Versailles and the writing of Andre Breton, Sun Airway's second album Soft Fall arrived in October 2012.
