Very popular in the Caribbean islands, raggamuffin never planted its roots deeply with metropolitan France's broadcasters. However, this album, like few before, found its public despite the fact that almost half the lyrics are in Creole. Beyond the language, the flow of MC Janik is gut-wrenching, and the sensitivity of his tone and his perceptiveness about the ins and outs of situations tend to give his message a wider meaning. Blending reggae with a jerky touch, Janik embodies the gentle toaster with a magnificent sense of melody. He creates complicated but still easy to grasp tunes on dubs cleverly dressed by Tyrone Downie, the Wailers' keyboardist. MC Janik's sophomore album is his best effort, with two major singles that put the DJ and the raggamuffin style back on the French club scene in the late '90s.
