Kylie Minogue continued her unstoppable momentum in 2024, following up her 2023 smash hit "Padam Padam" and the success of her album Tension with a sequel record, Tension II. Kylie effortlessly blends the adrenaline rush of a photoshoot with the energy of the dance floor, playing both the star and the director in the music video directed by Sophie Muller. In the final shot, like Gloria Swanson in the film ‘Sunset Boulevard’, Kylie is seen watching her own film, alone in her private screening room. The song’s lyrics layer on these meta references, even name-dropping another pop icon, Madonna, with the playful line: "I look stellar tonight, my armour is by Gaultier." Madonna’s influence is made clear again in the track "Edge of Saturday Night," where Kylie takes a lighthearted approach to the legendary ‘In Bed With Madonna’ documentary. In the music video, we see Kylie Minogue and American producer and DJ The Blessed Madonna partying on a bed in the middle of a lively celebration. The other tracks on this sixteenth album from the Australian singer are made in the same vein, combining an unapologetic mix of irony, playful gimmicks, and beats crafted for the dance floor.
