Madeline The Person
Pairing a wildly colorful visual aesthetic with deeply personal alt-pop songwriting, Madeline the Person presents an intriguing dichotomy. After signing with Warner Bros. at the age of 19, the Houston native debuted with the heartfelt 2021 single "As a Child." The following year her song "MEAN!" became a significant streaming hit.
Growing up in the Houston suburb of Bellaire, Madeline began playing piano at four years old, then picked up the guitar. By her teenage years, she had already begun to write songs, but the death of her father when she was 15 spurred her songwriting to become more personal and introspective. Online she began posting her songs under the name Madeline the Person, offsetting the intensity of her acoustic alt-pop songs with brightly colored outfits and an almost child-like visual palette.
She was discovered on Tik Tok by Warner Bros., which signed her in early 2021 and released the reflective ballad "As a Child" as her first single. Two EPs followed later that year, Chapter 1: The Longing and Chapter 2: The Shedding, the latter featuring a duet with Warner labelmate Adam Melchor called "August." In 2022, Madeline landed a streaming hit with "MEAN!" which anchored her third EP Chapter 3: The Burning.
