Divine Ikubor

Rema – born Divine Ikubor on May 1, 2000 in Benin City, Edo State, Nigera – is an afrobeat and trap singer, songwriter and rapper. While attending primary and secondary school in Edo State, he began singing and rapping. He released his first two singles – “Starboy” and “Mercy” – in 2017. After he posted a viral freestyle to D’Prince’s “Gucci Gang” in 2018, he attracted the attention of D’Prince himself who flew him to Lagos to sign a record deal. After Rema signed with Jonzing World in 2019, he released his self-titled debut EP. His single “Iron Main” earned worldwide attention when former U.S. President Barack Obama added it to his ‘summer playlist’ in 2019. In October of that year, he was nominated at the 13th edition of The Headies for Viewer’s Choice. He continued to release a string of singles in 2019 including “Corny”, “Trap Out the Submarine”, “Lady”, “Spaceship Jocelyn” and “Rewind”. In January 2020, he received the Soundcity MVP for Best New Artist. He continued to receive awards while releasing more new tracks including “Bearner (Bad Boy)”, “Rainbow”, “Ginger Me”, and “Woman”. In September, some of Rema’s music was included as part of the official FIFA 21 soundtrack.
