Andrew Garfield

Born on August 20, 1983 in Los Angeles, US and raised in Epsom, UK, Andrew Russell Garfield – known professionally as Andrew Garfield – bagged his first BAFTA in 2007; the same year as making his feature film debut. Having graduated from London's Central School of Speech and Drama just three years before, and earning his acting stripes in several UK television shows in the early '00s, he launched his small screen career in 2005 on acclaimed Channel 4 teen drama Sugar Rush, also making an appearance on series 3 of the BBC's Doctor Who in 2007. That same year, he made his American film foray in Lions for Lambs, which co-starred Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, and Robert Redford, and picked up the 2008 BAFTA Award for Best Actor for his celebrate role in Boy A. He continued to build on this success over the next two decades, landing roles in 2010 sci-fi favorite Never Let Me Go and The Social Network, while seeing his career skyrocket following a landmark performance in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man. He also made his Broadway theatre debut in 2012. In 2016, Andrew Garfield starred in Martin Scorsese's Silence and Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Rid while portraying Prior Walter in Tony Kushner's Angels in America at London's National Theatre the following year. In 2021, he showcased his talent for singing by channelling the spirit of the late composer, lyricist and playwright Jonathan Larson in American biographical musical drama film Tick, Tick... Boom!, which was directed by Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda and accompanied by a soundtrack on which Andrew Garfield sings the majority of songs. He scored a trove of nominations for his performance, picking up the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. In December 2021, he revisited his world-famous role as Spider-Man for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
