Ambrosia Parsley

Known for her atmospheric tone and introspective lyrics, singer/songwriter Ambrosia Parsley rose to popularity in the early 2000s as the frontwoman for shadowy Americana trio Shivaree. A native of Southern California, Parsley joined up with guitarist Duke McVinnie and keyboardist Danny McGough to form Shivaree in 1997. Over the course of their four albums, Shivaree achieved critical acclaim and moderate commercial success in the U.S., while gaining a particularly large fan base in Europe. Their song "Goodnight Moon" became their best-known track, appearing in several films and television shows. During the band's tenure, Parsley collaborated with several other artists, contributing vocals to records by Mocean Worker and Verbena and helming a weekly radio project for liberal media outlet Air America during which she would sing the news. Following Shivaree's breakup in 2007, she began work on a solo effort with the New York-based production team Elegant Too (Chris Maxwell and Phil Hernandez). A single, "Rubble," first appeared in 2010, though the album was repeatedly delayed over the next few years. Finally, in October 2013, Parsley's solo debut, Weeping Cherry, saw release in France via the Fargo Records label, followed in April 2015 by an American release on Barbes Records. In late 2017, she collaborated with Holly Miranda and Chris Maxwell on the holiday album Catskill Christmas.
