General Rudie
Formed in the early part of 1997 in the city of Montreal, this ska group included keyboardist Marc Thompson, guitarist Luke Quin, vocalist/sax man Phil Dixon, drummer Rob Radford, tromonist Nicky Popovic, and bassist/vocalist Stefan Popowycz. Rooting their sound in Jamaican ska, General Rudie blended in elements of punk, pop, and jazz. Issuing Cooling the Mark on Stomp in 2001, the band began to build a following throughout North America. The Take Your Place LP appeared in 2004.
