This CD, the second one by pianist Jimmy Amadie, is particularly well titled. A promising young pianist in the 1950s, Amadie developed tendonitis in his hands and in 1967 was forced to stop playing altogether. Since then he has had to drastically restrict his playing, sometimes to as little as five minutes a day, and even then he has re-hurt himself a few times. However, by recording just one song a month, he was able to record two CDs and show what a fine solo pianist he is. This set has four of his swinging and thoughtful originals plus six standards, and it is a bit miraculous how happy the music sounds.
