The pianist Jeanne-Marie Darré was the pupil of the greatest French musicians of their time, from Gabriel Fauré to Camille Saint-Saëns. She kept for the latter an intense admiration, performing his five concertos since the beginning of her concert artist career, and remains the first to have put the complete cycle on record, accompanied by Louis Fourestier. An historical version still considered one of the best ever recorded, coupled with the surprising Septet (featuring the Quatuor Pascal and Roger Delmotte). © Warner Classics
