The Guyanese-born Mortimer Softley adopted his Natural Black persona after moving to Jamaica in the mid-1990s, swiftly gaining a reputation on the island as a gifted performer and deejay. His second full-length international release showcases his talents both as a mellow-voiced vocalist and a throaty toaster, with a production that blends a traditional rootsy, gently swaying feel with updated digital touches on tracks such as the irresistible "Cry Cry Baby," the dancehall outing "Bless the Herb," and conscious songs such as "Selassie and Marcus" and "Jah Knows."
