Mestre Ambrósio is a new Brazilian band interested in departing from a solid Brazilian cultural background to join the world waves. Although the band has the visible concern of being accessible to audiences all over the world, its sound is deeply based in pure northeastern grooves. The group's profession of faith seems to be contained in the Portuguese lyrics of "Sêmen": "How can I know from where I came/If I hadn't touched the deep seed?" All tracks are originals, with the exception of an adapted folkloric song. The band has a strongly, wild, exciting percussive approach, faithful to the maracatu tradition from their region. The instrumental is basically traditional, including northeastern fiddles, with additions of electric basses and guitars, along with Bocato playing trombone in one track. As they say, "No samplers, no synthesizers, no sequencers... But we like it!"
