Serene
When Ryan Beatty was just a mere teenager, he began writing songs to sort out his personal, spiritual ideas. By graduation, Beatty was prepping for college life at Grove City College in Pittsburgh and had a guitar in hand. He made his debut at South by Southwest in 2001 and Arena Rock Recordings was so impressed, they offered him a deal. This surprised Beatty, but he went with it. He and friend Jesse Sprinkle (drums) tinkered around a studio in upstate New York, forming what would become Serene. Matt Green (guitar) and Erik Gust (bass) assisted in recording while Sydney Rentz added vocals. By 2002, Serene was complete with Beatty, Gust, Sprinkle, and Green; their self-titled debut album appeared in July.
