Besides Bob Marley, Toots and his boys were probably the only reggae unit to churn out album after great album, decade after decade. This one comes late in the man's career, but the sound will be familiar for fans of Funky Kingston and his earlier records. Like those, this album's sound is half East Memphis grease, half rough-and-ready rocksteady, though the band is perfectly at ease sliding into a stone reggae groove or even at times hinting at the possibilities of the dark stratosphere of dub. The record is crammed full of songs one hopes were hits. Tunes like "Let's Get It Together" and "Dilly Dally" are foot-tapping masterpieces. Songs like the title track let one remember this man's talent for brooding songs of love and loss. All in all, this is a remarkable record from late in the career of a man who will always unfortunately live in Robert Marley's shadow.
