This album represents the second discographic act of a musical friendship that started at the start of the 2000s, and materialised through a first common creation: Nhaoul in 2011. Palestinian singer and oud player Kamilya Jubran and bass player Sarah Murcia (Magik Malik, Las Ondas Marteles, Louis Sclavis, Rodolphe Burger…) practice an open and fertile dialogue, guided by their experiences in scholarly music (both from here and the East), jazz and improvised music. Jubran’s deep voice gives a concerned depth to the worried texts of Israeli, Lebanese and Moroccan contemporary poets. The two friends on strings are supported by the strong know-how of Régis Huby on the violin, Guillaume Roy on the viola and Atsushi Saka on the cello. From start to finish, the entire thing is extremely coherent and impresses with the depth of its lyricism. © BM/Qobuz
