In an age when Michael Cera can be a leading man and novelty raps like PSY's "Gangnam Style" and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Store" are top sellers digitally, it only seems logical that George Watsky would blow up. Thing is, there's more than meets the eye with this geeky white kid. His awkward appearance and slight lisp could lead many to write him off as a novelty, like one of the rappers portrayed in the Nerdcore Rising documentary. However, willfully silly as he may be, for Cardboard Castles, the Def Poetry Jam poet and author behind "Pale Kid Raps Fast" tackles deep subject matter in his rhymes and articulates it in an analytical way that is truly rare.
