Robyn Allegra Parton

Lyric-coloratura soprano Robyn Allegra Parton released her debut solo album, Burnished Gold, in 2023. She has a large repertory extending from the pre-Classical period to contemporary works. Parton attended Worcester College, Oxford, as a Choral Scholar (a student who performs at university events in exchange for tuition consideration), singing in the Worcester College Chapel Choir. She also served as president of the Worcester College Music Society and conductor of the Worcester College Orchestra before graduating in 2008. Parton went on to apprenticeships with the Monteverdi Choir and the English National Opera in 2008 and 2009, then earned a master's degree in vocal performance at the Royal College of Music in London. Later, she went on to sing with the Monteverdi Choir and to regard its director, John Elion Gardiner, as a mentor; she earned a Johaninha Trust Award for which he had nominated her. She was also a finalist at the 2012 Kathleen Ferrier Awards and a semifinalist in the Das Lied competition in Berlin in 2013, as well as winning various other prizes. Parton made her recording debut on the album Isles of Wonder: Music for the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games. The following year, she appeared as soprano soloist with the New College Choir, Oxford, on the album Marc-Antoine Charpentier: Musique sacrée. Parton made her debut at the Royal Opera House in London as Barbarina in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro in 2015 and later made a repeat visit there. She has appeared around Britain and continental Europe at such venues and events as the Teatro di San Carlo Naples, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Innsbruck Festival for Early Music. She has a wide variety of roles in her repertory, from Clelia in Reinhard Keiser's Octavia to those in 20th century and contemporary works. She joined the solo ensemble of Germany's Theater Münster in 2022 and was scheduled to premiere a role in an opera by Manuel Zwerger there. Parton has been in demand as a concert singer as well, having performed with both traditional orchestral ensembles (the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, London Philharmonic, and Gustav Mahler Chamber Orchestra) and historically oriented groups (the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the English Baroque Soloists). After appearing on several other recordings, including a Naxos release of Stephen Dodgson's chamber opera Margaret Catchpole: Two Worlds Apart, Parton released her debut solo album, Burnished Gold, featuring German songs from around the year 1900.
