Ousanousava

It was under the impetus of brothers Frédéric, Bernard and François Joron, and their sister Isabelle, that Ousanousava (meaning Où allons-nous in Reunionese Creole) took shape in 1984. Sons of Sega musician Jules Joron, the band's first cassette, Ousa Nousava, sold several thousand copies in 1984. The group's style, somewhere between sega and maloya, paid tribute to Reunion's musical heritage, and the brothers were soon joined by musicians to perform on stage. Riding on the success of this first release, the band went on to perform live, unveiling two new albums, Déraciné (1990) and Pic-Nic (1992), enough to earn them a date at the Zénith in Paris. While Frédéric decided to leave the group in 1995, the band continued on its way. Ousanousava's sixth album, Mon Pei In Tablo, released in 1999, breathed new life into the group with the hit "Na Dé Milyon D'Années". Over the years, Ousanousava have become an essential part of Reunion's cultural landscape, touring the continent and gaining increasing recognition. Symptomatic of this success, the band released their fourteenth studio album, Ça Mon Pays, in 2021.
