Marta Gómez
Marta Gómez is a Colombian singer-songwriter who mixes what she calls on her website "the joy of the Caribbean with the nostalgia of the Andes adding jazz and pop elements, taking the authenticity of South American indigenous folk music into a new realm'. She has written more than 80 songs and made several albums including 'Coloreando: Traditional Songs for Children in Spanish' as part of the Global Language Project. It won the 2014 Latin Grammy Award for Best Latin Children's Album.
Based now in Barcelona, Spain, she won a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, she made her recording debut in 2003 with the album 'Solo Es Vivir' and released an eponymous album the same year. 'Cantos de Agua Dulce (Songs of the Sweet Water)' was nominated in 2004 as the Best Latin Jazz Album in the Billboard Latin Music Awards and she followed it in 2005 with 'Entre Cada Palabra'. After 'Musiquita' (2009), in 2011 came 'El Corazón y el Sombrero (The Heart and the Hat)' on which she is joined by Israeli singer-songwriter Javier Ruibal on songs based on poems by Federico García Lorca. She tours frequently in South America and has performed with artists including Bonnie Raitt, John Mayer, Totó la Momposina and Mercedes Sosa.
