Gizzle

Known first as a fervent battle-tested MC under the alias Lady G da Real Deal, then as a songwriter under her birth name, Glenda Proby eventually made longer commercial strides as Gizzle. As a youngster, the South Central Los Angeles native was an avid writer, which led to battling at age 16. Prior to her 18th birthday, she declined a major-label contract and in turn concentrated on writing songs -- sometimes uncredited -- for other artists. Lil' Fizz, Snoop Dogg (facilitated by early supporter Teddy Riley), and T.I. were among those who released material co-written by Proby through 2010. Proby's career continually gathered steam deep into the decade with the likes of B.o.B., Kevin Gates, Nicki Minaj, and Travis Scott, as well as long-term collaborator Ty Dolla $ign, seeking her input. In 2016, the year she signed to Diddy's Bad Boy label, her songbook expanded with Puff Daddy & the Family's "You Could Be My Lover," four tracks for Ty's Free TC, Kanye West's "Real Friends," Skylar Gray's "Wreak Havoc," and DJ Mustard's "Lil Baby." Additional work with Ty, multiple co-compositions for Fate of the Furious: The Album, and a track for Vic Mensa followed in 2017. Independently, she also released 30-0 and 7 Days in Atlanta -- EPs that showcased her range from gruff to mellow -- and "Get Loud for Me," her most popular headlining single at that point.
