xix

Connecticut-based duo XIX create a gleefully chaotic form of punk-rap that has caught on with the hyperpop/glitchcore set. Prolifically releasing brash, destructive bangers since 2018, the pair scored a viral hit in 2020 with their single "Kismet" and continued expanding their sound with the more introspective 2021 EP Fall Damage (their first release as WHOKILLEDXIX). XIX was formed in Meriden, Connecticut, by Yung Skayda and Karm the Tool. Mixing cloud rap, metal, and punk influences, they released their first album, Pajamas, in 2018. Their Valyntynes Day EP appeared in 2019, along with numerous additional singles, as the duo began incorporating more emo and pop influences into their sound. With 2020's "Kismet," they embraced the compressed, bitcrushed sonics of glitchcore, and the track became a viral hit on TikTok. Signing with Masked Records/Warner Records, their EP 19 continued in this vein, and they guested on a track by CMTEN called "I Love Glitchcore." Rebranding themselves WHOKILLEDXIX, they released the EP Fall Damage in 2021, with Benkro guesting on the single "Toxic."
