She Sir

Austin, Texas quartet She Sir formed when vocalist/guitarist Russell Karloff and vocalist/bassist Matthew Grusha met in college during the early 2000s. Both were students of music composition, and used their acquired knowledge from the classroom in the real world of dream pop and shoegaze. Working with a variety of other musicians who ended up in bands like Ringo Deathstarr and the Mountain Goats, She Sir released the Who Can't Say Yes EP in 2006, followed by the Yens EP in 2010. That same year, the Japanese label Happy Prince released a compilation of their work to date called Ev'ry Thing in Paris. These recordings caught the ear of legendary indie pop label Shelflife, and in early 2014 the meticulous band released its first full-length album, Go Guitars. In the lineup for the album's recording were drummer David Nathan and guitarist Jeremy Cantrell. They stuck together in this configuration for the recording of their next album, which was produced by Louie Lino (Nada Surf, the New Pornographers). Rival Island was released by Shelflife in July of 2017 and featured the band expanding its shoegaze sound with some '80s saxophone solos, dream pop textures, and even more reverb.
