Sam Fonteyn
Born in 1925, English composer Sam Fonteyn (born Samuel Soden) was best known for his outstanding output for the Boosey & Hawkes Music Library. Primarily composing throughout the '60s and '70s, Fonteyn's memorable scores have been featured in films and popular TV shows. His "Pop Looks Bach" composition was famously used for the BBC program Ski Sunday and is probably one of the most loved British TV themes of all time. Another BBC show he composed the theme for was the sitcom Please Sir. Since then, Fonteyn's piece "Galloping Gertie" has been used on animated TV shows SpongeBob Squarepants, Ren & Stimpy, and Family Guy. Sadly, Fonteyn passed away in 1991.
