Petit Miguelito
Salsa and rumba musician and singer Ghislain Toffohoussou François Miguel, known as Petit Miguelito, was born on December 22, 1986 in Cotonou, Benin. His nickname comes from his father, a well-known singer in Benin whose stage name was Miguelito. Although he never really knew his father, Petit Miguelito has always been keen to perpetuate his father's memory, which is why his first album, Du père au fils , was released in 2006. Petit Miguelito's songs, "Lonlonyin" and "Hommage à Miguelito ", were played over and over again on radio stations throughout the country, selling over 200,000 copies. The singer went on to release two further albums, Confirmation (2007) and La Prophétie (2013), which proved a big hit with the single "mon bébé ", a collaboration with Teeyah whose video exceeded 20 million views. At the height of his career, considered one of Benin's biggest stars and touring Africa and Europe, Petit Miguelito disappeared from the radar for many years. He reappeared almost 10 years later with the singles "Dédji" (2022) and "Doée " (2023).
