MOTI
Dutch electronic producer Moti delivers booming house anthems in the spirit of acts like Afrojack and Tiesto. After breaking onto the charts in his native Netherlands with 2012 single "Circuits," he made a steady climb with high-profile collaborations with Martin Garrix ("Virus [How About Now]") and Major Lazer ("Boom").
Born Timotheus Romme in Amsterdam, he bought a set of turntables from a friend and started practicing while a teenager. Two years later -- after finishing high school and starting his fashion design education -- he began DJ'ing in Amsterdam. Initially, he was one part of Groovenatics, an EDM duo he created with his cousin, Yordi Corsten. Groovenatics made their debut in 2007 with "Lose Control" and went on to release their own material, as well as remixes, over the next three years.
In 2010, they parted ways and Romme began work on his solo career under the Moti moniker. Restless and experimental, he bolstered his catalog with both festival-sized EDM bangers and more intimate, melodic soundscapes fit for headphones. In addition to electronic music, Moti also experimented with the creation of indie rock, pop, hip-hop, and a cappella. He released his debut singles, "Circuits" and "Kinky Denise," with Dutch producer Quintino in 2012. These caught the ear of Tiesto, who signed Moti to his Red Light Management company. The pair released the track "Back to the Acid" that same year.
Moti went on to collaborate with other progressive house producers like Martin Garrix ("Virus"), Blasterjaxx ("Ghost in the Machine"), and W&W ("Spack Jarrow"). At the end of 2015, he released a collaboration with Diplo's Major Lazer, "Boom," which also featured guest spots by Ty Dolla $ign, Wizkid, and Kranium. He continued to issue singles with Spinnin', including "East West" with Kenneth G, "Wired" with Jay Hardway and Babet, and "Break the House Down" from Tiesto's 2018 EP I Like It Loud.
