Greg Kihn Band

Born in 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland, singer/guitarist Greg Kihn launched his career in rock 'n' roll at an early age, playing under his own name for his first three albums (1976-1978), then under the "Greg Kihn Band" moniker for the best part of his career on the independent Beserkley label. From 1981's Rockhinroll onward, his success was reflected in a series of albums with titles that nodded to his family name: Kihntinued (1982), Kihnspiracy (1983) and Citizen Kihn (1985). Greg Kihn's inspired, cutting-edge power pop style earned him radio hits with "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em)" (number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100) "Jeopardy" (number 2 on the Hot 100) and "Lucky". After Love and Rock and Roll (1986) and three others in the 1990s, Kihn's responsibilities as a radio host, screenwriter, writer, and music journalist took precedence over his musical career. Even so, he released True Kihnfessions in 2000, a live recording (featuring his son, Ry Kihn) in 2006, and Rekihndled in 2017, all while continuing to sporadically tour with the band.
