Graham Lake
An artist who melds pop hooks with darkly amorphous modern R&B dressed with vaporwave affectations, Graham Lake earned an online following in the early 2020s with such streaming singles as "Run Em Down."
Born in Stockholm and raised in a musical household, Graham Lake initially found himself drawn to classical music, learning cello as a child. He walked away from classical in his teens, inspired to refahionself as a dance DJ after witnessing Martin Garrix online. The rap collective ODZ asked him to join a songwriting camp, an invitation that wound up connecting Lake with Linus Eklow, half of the duo Galantis. Eklow began working with Lake and the young musician released his first single, "FOCUS," in 2021.
"Run Em Down" arrived in 2022, gaining an international following online. A handful of other singles--"Out of Love," "Up N Down," "Champion"--followed that year, many featuring alternate mixes. After releasing "C'est La Vie," Lake released the mini-LP Elizabeth in 2023, followed by the single "This Ain't Love."
