Changes
Formed in 2002 by Chicago natives Darren Spitzer (vocals/guitar), David Rothblatt (guitar/vocals), Rob Kallick (bass) and Jonny Basofin (drums), this US indie band gradually built up a cult following with their eclectic brand of melodic guitar pop. The quartet made its recording debut in 2003 with the self-released First Of May EP, which gave an early indication of their penchant for genre-hopping, jangly guitars and sparkling melodies. A self-titled EP followed before the band signed a contract with the US independent label Drama Club Records. Their 2006 album debut, Today Is Tonight, reprised a number of the songs from the EPs alongside some instantly likeable new material. The album was also issued in Europe on the Kitchenware Records label. (NB: Not to be confused with the Italian jazz quartet or the US neo-folk act of the same name.)
