Annie Villeneuve
Annie Villeneuve is a francophone pop singer from Quebec who rose to fame on the 2003 season of Star Académie and embarked on a solo recording career thereafter. Born on May 5, 1983, in Jonquière, Saguenay, Quebec, she appeared as a contestant on Star Académie in 2003 during the reality show's first season. She finished in fifth place, losing to first-place winner Wilfred Le Bouthillier, and was offered a recording contract with the Les Disques Musicor label. She made her album debut in 2005 with Quand Je Ferme les Yeux, a platinum-certified hit in Canada. The eponymous follow-up album Annie Villeneuve came several years later in 2009 and was less of a hit, though still popular enough to be certified gold. It includes the single "Ce Soir."
