Ajay-Atul

Prominent sibling Indian music composer duo Ajay Gogavale (born August 21, 1976) and Atul Gogavale (bon September 11, 1974) hail from Pune, Maharashtra, India. The pair first began honing their musical skills while still at school and won a National Cadet Corps competition which helped to further their interests. They were later given a keyboard from their father and this became the catalyst for their composing career. After moving to Mumbai, Ajay-Atul were enlisted to work on movie Vishwavinayaka which provided an in-road into the Indian (primarily Marathi) music industry. They proceeded to put their stamp on a great deal of popular Hindi films, winning the Best Music Direction award at the 56th National Film Awards from the Government of India for contributing music to the Marathi film Jogwa in 2008 and in 2010 composing the songs for Indian Marathi-language drama film Natarang. In 2015, the pair cemented their high-achieving status with a spot on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 List (clocking in at 82) and then in 2019 climbing up to 22. In 2011, they poured their talents into the hit Hindi film Singham and in 2014 into the Aamir Khan-starring comedy-drama film PK. They ventured into horror movie territory for 2018 Indian Hindi-language period horror film Tumbbad. In 2021, Ajay-Atul – who largely create their music using live instruments – picked up the Composer of the Decade award at the Mirchi Music Awards (Hindi) 2021 for Agneepath and at the Mirchi Music Awards (Marathi) 2021 for Sairat.
