Adam Sanders
Adam Sanders first made inroads in Nashville as a songwriter, penning two Country Airplay number ones in 2014: Dustin Lynch's "Hell of a Night" and Cole Swindell's "Ain't Worth the Whiskey." These lean, tuneful songs -- muscular without being brawny, traditional without being retro -- provided the musical template for Sanders' career as a performer, which he launched almost immediately after his songs became smashes. Over the next few years, he doled out singles on a steady basis, culminating in the 2018 release of a self-titled EP, which reached number 33 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart. Sanders issued his first full-length effort, What If I’m Right, in 2021, followed in 2022 by the EP I Wanna Be Somebody.
A native of Lake City, Florida, Adam Sanders immersed himself in music at an early age; it runs in his family -- he is the nephew of steel guitarist Scotty Sanders, who has been in a fixture in country music sessions since the late '90s. Learning to play guitar and sing as a child, Sanders gigged around northern Florida until he relocated to Nashville in 2009. As he worked a construction day job, he persisted at his music, eventually landing a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog.
Soon, Sanders began writing for and collaborating with a number of Nashville stars including Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan. His breakthrough arrived in 2014, when he co-wrote two Billboard Country Airplay number one hits: Cole Swindell's "Ain't Worth the Whiskey" and Dustin Lynch's "Hell of a Night." His songwriting success soon led to a recording career, with Big Yellow Dog releasing his single "Nothin' to Do But Drink" by the end of 2014. Sanders placed songs in the TV series Nashville and The Ranch in 2015, the same year he issued the singles "Somewhere That You Don't Go" and "Thunder." Another pair of singles -- "About To" and "I've Been Meaning to Call" -- followed in 2016, with 2017 bringing "Sippin' on the Good Times."
Sanders began 2018 with "Over Did It," the first single from his eponymous EP released later that year. Two further singles -- "We Live It" and "Miss Me Me" -- arrived over the course of 2018, while Sanders issued a trio of songs in 2019: "Life I'm Livin'," "I Don't Just Sing About It," and "Damn Strait." He kicked off 2020 with "Ruled the World," whose video featured cameos from a variety of other country singers, including Tracy Lawrence and Aaron Tippin. What If I’m Right, Sanders' debut long-player, appeared the following year, and included the muscular title cut and "Daddy, Jesus and Earnhardt," the latter of which was a tribute to NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt. Early 2022 saw the release of the driving and earnest single "I Wanna Be Somebody," which appeared on the EP of the same name later that April.
