After a beta test period, the 3.1 version of Audirvana, the famous audiophile player for Mac, greatly appreciated by audiophiles all over the world, and particularly those living in Japan, is now available and opens up a whole host of new possibilities for Mac users.

Indeed, Damien Plisson, the creator of Audirvana, a player he continues to improve after the successful integration of the Qobuz application in Hi-Res, has updated it with a UPnP/DLNA connection which compensates for the limitations of the dated Apple Airplay wireless connection system (16-Bit/48 kHz!). This now allows Mac computers to wirelessly broadcast Hi-Res audio files up to 24-Bit/192 kHz (and also DSD) to devices compatible with UPnP/DLNA.

We can only welcome this progress (tested in its beta version and greatly appreciated by our colleague Benoît Rébus, who’s in charge of developing the manufacturer integration of the Qobuz app), which will make Audirvana, initially a basic software player, a powerful piece of software for mobile applications, benefiting Qobuz's Hi-Res playback. This will allow the user to broadcast from a Mac and playback on any sound reproduction system that includes a device, network player, amplifier or an all-in-one system compatible with UPnP/DLNA!

We can only hope that this application and its endless possibilities will one day be available on PC.
