Yi Lin Jiang
Yi Lin Jiang's international childhood has prepared him for the life of a touring musician. Along with performances around the world, he is also an educator, the founder and artistic director of the Jiang Artists Festival, and the founder of the ANCLEF label.
Jiang was born in Munich in 1988 but spent his early childhood in China before the family returned to Germany, where he began piano lessons. He started lessons with Barbara Strauß at six and performed a Haydn concerto at age ten, earning the Youth Culture Prize of Kaufbeuren. Jiang then studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, following Kämmerling to the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, and in 2012 began working with Ewa Kupiec. Since 2015, Jiang has taught as Kupiec's assistant at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, taking on a docent role in 2017.
Jiang has won prizes in Germany and elsewhere for solo work and for chamber music, including one with his father, clarinetist Bin Wei Jiang. His participation in several music festivals has allowed him to play alongside or gain further encouragement from artists such as Herbert Schuch, the Amaryllis Quartet, the Szymanowski Quartet, and composer Toshio Hosokawa. In 2018, Jiang launched the Jiang Artists Festival in Kaufbeuren, Germany. Jiang has performed in the major concert halls in Germany, as well as those throughout Europe and in China, and for the Bayerischer Rundfunk and Österreichischer Rundfunk broadcasters.
Jiang's first album, Masques, was released in 2014 on Solaris Records to critical acclaim and featured solo works by Szymanowski, Scriabin, Debussy, and others. He followed his debut with the 2019 album Dualis, Part 1, also on Solaris Records. In 2020, Jiang founded the ANCLEF label, joining fellow pianist Jacopo Giovannini for the label's debut EP release, Philia, featuring music by Brahms. The label's first full-length album, IV·XXI (In Memoriam), was issued in 2021. Jiang returned to Solaris Records for Dualis, Part 2 in 2022.
