Victor Thompson

A passionate Nigerian singer and songwriter, Victor Thompson brings an enveloping warmth to his style of Afrobeat-tinged gospel music. He had already been active for over a decade when he competed on The Voice Nigeria in 2017, launching his official recording career a year later with 2018's "Miyeruwe." Thompson achieved breakout success in 2023 when "This Year (Blessings)," his collaboration with fellow Nigerian Ehis D'Greatest, reached number one on Billboard's Afrobeats chart. The song appeared on his debut album, Blessed, in December of that year. Born in Lagos and raised in the Okpara Inland community of Delta State, Thompson sang from a young age. After college he directed churches, organized concerts, and even worked in television on shows like Vocalist Naija and ARTmosphere Reality Show. An appearance on the reality singing contest The Voice Nigeria, held in South Africa in 2017, helped Thompson gain national exposure and he made his recorded debut the next year with the lush gospel original "Miyeruwe." He resumed his recording career in 2022 with a series of inspirational singles including "Not Moved" and "My Back." At the beginning of 2023, Thompson teamed up with another singer, Ehis D'Greatest, and released the soaring "This Year (Blessings)." It was almost an immediate success, notching millions of viral streams, topping Billboard's Afrobeats chart, and earning him four Marathana Award as well as a Headies nomination. Thompson delivered his first full-length, Blessed, later that year.
