Tripa Gninnin

A child of the early 2000s, born in the commune of Yopougon on the outskirts of central Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire, Tripa Gninnin first practiced on the streets of his neighborhood, where he unveiled his first freestyles. Fascinated by Young Thug, he began posting videos on the internet where his talent intrigued, enough to be invited on the Comme des nouchis compilation in 2019. More inspired by trap and drill than coupé-décalé, which exploded in Côte d'Ivoire during his youth, Tripa Gninnin developed his style in his first singles from 2020, with "Poto y'a r" (2020), "Mou" featuring Youngi (2020) and "Bintou Were Were" (2021). His rap, which he declines in nouchi, a local slang, is dark and chiselled, and his technique earns him a signature in 2021 on the Coast to Coast label. After unveiling his first EP, Poy City, in 2020, he produced his second release, Bomboclaat (2021), a collection of four new tracks, with the help of the label. Considered one of the hopes of Ivorian rap in the 2020s, his tracks such as "Decapo" (2021) and "Gros cœur" (2023) attracted hundreds of thousands of listeners, and the Ivorian rapper made a name for himself on the country's music scene, notably featuring on Marla's track "Akpi" (2022).
