The Original Caste
The North Country Singers became Original Caste in 1966 when Graham Bruce, Joseph Cavender and Bliss Mackie recruited Dixie Lee Innis. The group recorded their first single in 1968, but 1969's "One Tin Soldier" became a hit in their native Canada and America. An album of the same name appeared in 1970, but Original Caste broke up in 1971. Innis went on to record several singles during the '70s as a solo act.
