Orson Hentschel

Düsseldorf-based electronic musician and multimedia artist Orson Hentschel produces tense, cinematic pieces inspired by minimalist composers as well as '90s electronic music. He builds highly suspenseful epics from stiff repetitions of looped, glitchy samples, with added energy from drummer Lukas Baumgart. Hentschel was classically trained as a piano player, but also listened to trip-hop and electronic pop music as a youth. During the early 2010s, he released a few techno tracks, and composed music for In a Mirror, a short film which he directed. His proper debut album, Feed the Tape, appeared on Denovali Records in 2016. Its follow-up, the denser, more melodic Electric Stutter, arrived a year later. Facades, an EP containing Hentschel's first vocal-based compositions, appeared in early 2018.
