Mayonnaise

Emerging from the vibrant music scene of the Philippines, Mayonnaise is a five-piece alternative rock band, originally formed in 2002 in Metro Manila. The band's name pays homage to The Smashing Pumpkins' song "Mayonaise" from their iconic 1993 album Siamese Dream. In 2004, Mayonnaise shot to stardom by taking home the grand prize at the Red Horse Muziklaban contest, introducing the lineup of Monty Macalino, Paga Manikan, Lee Maningas, and Shan Regalado to a wider audience. Their eponymous studio debut, featuring the hit single "Jopay," was released under Sony Music Philippines in 2004. This success was followed by other critically acclaimed releases such as Pa'no Nangyari Yun? (2006), Tersera (2008), Pula (2010), and Tayo Na Lang Dalawa (2014), with hits like "Bakit Part 2," "Salamin," "Sa Pula, Sa Puti," and "Paraan" solidifying their place in Filipino rock lore. They even lent their musical talents to the theme song of the reality show, The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition. Over the following years, Mayonnaise underwent multiple lineup changes, with Brosoto, Servano, Mercado, and others playing integral roles at different times. 2019 marked the 15th anniversary of their debut, commemorated with a remastered release. However, a significant resurgence occurred in 2022 when their early hit "Jopay" went viral on social media, cracking the Top 10 of the Billboard Philippines Songs chart shortly after.
