Mayo Thompson
Mayo Thompson is best known as the founder and leader of the long-running art/avant rock ensemble the Red Krayola. After recording a pair of groundbreaking albums in the late 1960s, Thompson recorded a fractured folk-rock masterpiece in CORKY'S DEBT TO HIS FATHER. Thompson resurrected the Krayola in the 1970s following a move to England, stocking the band with various members of England's post-punk elite. In the 1980s, he became a member of kindred spirits Pere Ubu, recording a few albums with them before dusting off the Krayola moniker once again in the 1990s, this time looking to the Chicago indie scene for his partners in crime. A restless creative spirit devoted to the principles of the avant garde, Mayo Thompson has remained a major figure in the rock underground for almost five decades
