Mauricio & Palodeagua

Led by singer-songwriter Mauricio Rodríguez, Colombian band Mauricio & Palodeagua has built a successful career out of mixing different Latin American tropical rhythms with their catchy pop melodies. Shortly after forming in Bogotá in 2003, Mauricio & Palodeagua signed with EMI and made their official debut with the single "Niña," which catapulted the band to fame not just in Colombia but also in countries like Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, and Spain. The song was included in their first studio album, the kaleidoscopic Un Canto Caribeño, released later that year. The popularity of the album earned them a nomination for Best New Artist at the 2004 Latin Grammy Awards. Following years of relentless touring, including several shows in Europe, the group returned in 2006 with their second album, Contigo. The LP featured hit singles such as "Un Café" and "Me Cansé," as well as the chart-topping "Dame Tu Amor." In 2007, their track "Latinoamericando" won the Sigla de Oro award at Milan's Festival Latinoamericano. Preceded by the Latin Grammy-nominated single "Esa Muchachita," their third studio effort Viernes came out in 2008 and established the band as one of Colombia's finest musical exports. The album enjoyed great popularity throughout Latin America and included the radio hits "Tú Te Lo Perdiste," "Viernes," and "Será," in which the group advocated for peace amidst the region's unstable political climate. Over the following years, Mauricio & Palodeagua continued working on a follow-up to Viernes, releasing singles like "Baila Para Mí" and "Si Ella No Está" in 2014. La Vida Gira, their fourth studio album, hit the shelves in 2020 and was followed by the children's music LP Palodeagua Kids in 2022.
