Lissy Trullie
With her affinity for bowler hats, punky couture, and imprecise indie pop, Lissy Trullie established herself as a New York fashion icon and emerging musician in 2008. Her well-clad figure graced the pages of such fashion magazines as Elle, SOMA, and Jalouse, while her lo-fi musical demos attracted the attention of several record labels. Trullie eventually signed with American Myth Recordings and released her debut EP, Self-Taught Learner, in February 2009. A beefed-up version of the EP appeared several months later, following Trullie's signing to Downtown Records. In late 2009, she began work on her full-length debut, doing tentative recording sessions with Bernard Butler (formerly of Suede) but ultimately clicking with John Hill (Rihanna, Kings of Leon, M.I.A.) and Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio). Debut single "Madeline" arrived in November 2011 as a download, with the self-titled album following in March 2012.
