Library of Sands
California experimental psych rockers Library of Sands' arid explorations often take the form of stretched-out, extended-form jams, usually captured in non-traditional recording settings such as a New Mexico earth ship, as well as a tented hut in the California desert. Many of these early recordings from 2010 and 2011 found release in 2013 with a trifecta of Library of Sands albums. The vinyl-only outing Before Us, the CD-only Side to Side, and the cassette-only Wavy Heat EP all saw release around the same time. Wavy Heat stood out as an EP that found group member N. Shineywater playing an abandoned organ he found roadside, with drums being handled by My Bloody Valentine's Colm O'Ciosoig.
The year 2014 saw the release of full-length album Odd Hourglass, featuring drummer Stephen McCarty, as well as a remastered CD issue of Wavy Heat. Along with his prolific recording schedule, Shineywater performed live at a ravenous pace, playing international shows constantly as well as appearing at various festivals and select dates supporting Rodriguez, My Bloody Valentine, Hope Sandoval & the Warm Inventions, and many others.
