John Adorney

New Age composer John Adorney began studying music at age nine -- although his first instrument was the cello, within two years he'd also acquired a guitar, profoundly influenced by the Beatles and the British Invasion they launched. He additionally learned the piano, and went on to study classical music at the University of Connecticut; a tenure with an ethnic dance troupe followed before Adorney relocated to Denver during the late 1970s, becoming a fixture of the local folk circuit. He next moved to Los Angeles, teaching music at a school for disabled children before founding his own music therapy practice; by the 1990s Adorney was additionally composing New Age-influenced instrumental material, eventually landing three pieces on the 1998 Domo compilation Reflections. The exposure brought him to the attention of the EverSound label, and later that same year Adorney issued his debut LP, Beckoning. Other Shore appeared in late summer 2001.
