Hermes House Band

The Dutch pop group Hermes House Band was founded in 1982 as a party and cover combo. The music group has its origins in the Rotterdam student corps, in which the founding members (Michiel Muller, Douwe van de Werf, Ilco Schuuringa, Jan Hoogendoorn, Ronald Tettero and Pieter van der Plas) met during their studies in Rotterdam. in 1989, the Hermes House Band was on the verge of splitting up, but this was averted. in 1991 they released their debut album 010 Hallo Rotterdam and in 1992 the album Thuis, which reached 25th place in the Dutch charts. Their single of the song "I Will Survive" (original Gloria Gaynor) was released in the Netherlands in 1994 and in the rest of Europe in 1999. The single reached the top of the charts in the Netherlands and the top 20 in Germany. In 2018, the hit reached number 1 in the charts in France after France won the soccer World Cup. After further albums, the album The Album followed in 2001, reaching 7th place in Germany and 28th place in Austria. The single "Country Roads" was a great success. The cover song reached number 2 in Germany, number 4 in Austria and number 7 in the UK. In December 2019, the Hermes House Band released the EP Happy New Year.
