Diego Ares
Diego Ares is a Spanish harpsichordist. He studied piano with Alis Jurgelionis and Aldona Dvarionaité, and harpsichord with Pilar Cancio, Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, and Jesper Christensen. At 14 he won first prize at the Primer Concurso de Piano RCN de Vigo, and at 15 he won first prize at the Nikolai Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Paris. At 18, he went to the Netherlands to study harpsichord at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Richard Egarr. Ares has toured primarily in Europe and Japan, giving recitals of the music of Padre Antonio Soler and Domenico Scarlatti, which he has also recorded for Pan Classics and Harmonia Mundi.
