Charlie Chesterman
Charlie Chesterman was a Boston-area bandleader who first found fame with the slapdash punk outfit Scruffy the Cat. The band gigged throughout Boston and made some headway nationally but was finished by 1990 or so. Chesterman's next project was the Harmony Rockets, which released exactly one EP. In 1994, he embarked on a decidedly twangier solo career with From the Book of Flames, which appeared on the Slow River imprint. The similar sounds of Studabakersfield followed two years later; in 1997, Ryko released Hit This & Kick That, a Europe-only LP compiling tracks from his two solo albums. The self-released Ham Radio followed in 2000.
