Borneo & Sporenburg
A techno-pop production team on one of Cologne, Germany's many superb electronic labels, Italic, Borneo & Sporenburg are just as likely to produce tasteful, minimal tech-house as they are likely to produce something that sounds like a cross between smooth soul and mid-'80s sophisti-pop. Simultaneously hailing from Zurich and Stuttgart, Borneo (Daniel Varga) and Sporenburg (Frank Wössner) are equally inspired by New Order and Mike Ink. The duo released their debut album, Remember Today, in 2002. A pair of singles were issued in support of the album, including "Wiedersehen," featuring heavily treated vocals from occasional collaborator Philippe. Varga and Wössner also perform together as a DJ team.
