Blinkie

London-based producer and DJ Blinkie created a buzz with his shimmering and optimistic take on U.K. house. He burst onto the scene with his 2015 debut single "Don't Give Up (On Love)," and went on to remix songs by Sam Smith, Anne-Marie, and Sigala in addition to releasing singles with Crazy Cousinz and Grace Tither. Blinkie started making music when he was 15. He has cited Quincy Jones, Rick Rubin, and Kanye West as major influences on his production style. Although perfectly capable as a DJ, Blinkie prefers his time in the studio; he claimed he could channel his creativity, and his emotions, to a greater extent as a producer. He produced a number of U.K. rap and pop singles including J Warner's "Chill Chase" feat. Wretch 32, Jada's "Purple Skies," and Liam Prior's "Falling." He broke through with the hopeful house anthem "Don't Give Up (On Love)," sung by Alahna. The track received recognition from the likes of online tastemaker Eton Messy, Mistajam on BBC Radio One, and Ministry of Sound Radio. Ministry's radio presenter Mike Wooler even invited Blinkie into the studio for an interview. The single saw release in late 2015 on Ultra Records, and reached number 68 on the U.K. pop chart. Blinkie remixed songs by Anne-Marie, Sigala, and Everything Everything, then released second single "Halfway" in 2017. A few more singles appeared in 2018, including "Blue Skies" with funky U.K. producer Crazy Cousinz. Singles featuring Grace Tither ("Little Love") and Celina Sharma ("Must Be Love") arrived in 2019, and Blinkie released the double-single "What You Want"/"What You Do" in 2020, additionally remixing Sam Smith's "To Die For."
