Black Hippy

Californian hip-hop supergroup Black Hippy is a meeting of minds between some of Top Dawg Entertainment's (TDE) top movers and shakers; West Coast rappers Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q; the bright spark behind the group's conception. Since forming in South Los Angeles, California in 2008, the crew has collaborated on numerous projects, including 2008's "Try Me" by ScHoolboy Q, 2009's "Welcome to C4" by Kendrick Lamar and two tracks on Lamar's landmark 2012 album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. In 2015, Black Hippy members made a guest appearance on "Vice City" by Jay Rock, and in 2016 they were listed as a featured artist on a remix of ScHoolboy Q's 2016 single "THat Part" featuring Kanye West, contributing new verses to the track. Black Hippy has performed at various events, having proved their mettle during the legendary TDE cypher at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards, which featured Black Hippy rapping alongside their TDE labelmate Isaiah Rashad. Black Hippy has yet to release any original music as a group, but with all members riding high on their individual careers, the crew remains an active phenomenon.
